Been walking for so long my feet are getting worn & talking for so long that my tongue gets torn. All the tales that I have spawned. The unveiling of the dawn & it is warm. Heavy in my lonely tread (long forgotten road). Steady in my holy dread (one begotten soul). Oh, the seeds with which you sow. You believe & then you know: You come & go. Tell me how far you’ve come and where you’ve been before. Seldom with what we’ve done to know what’s in store. As you open up the door only know that there is more than before. Yeah, man, I’m stretched so thin. Oh, God, I feel so rough but when the going gets easy that’s when you’re giving up. Man, I felt so high & now I’m all down low, I wonder how long now until I lose my soul. When I wake each day I see that same old face.
I speak words away but a gaze remains. When I wake each day I see that same old head. Who’s that man who laid me to bed? Who’s that man? Dude, get away here, fast! Honey, when you catch my eye, tell me what do you see in it? Do you see some light or is it only darkness? Man, I nearly lost my mind & then it bounced back in when I found out here I couldn’t ever quit. I can count my years but they don’t count for “shhh”.
